“Wax on. Wax off. Wax on. Wax off.” Do these words remind you of a blockbuster movie from the 80s? In the Karate Kid, the main character is shown how to wax cars with a circular motion, “wax on, wax off.” He is less than thrilled considering that his real aim is to learn the art of Karate. However, he does not realize that waxing the cars is actually his instructor’s way of preparing him for a future Karate challenge.

Like the main character in the Karate Kid, we sometimes tend to moan or complain about a task God has us presently doing, because we fail to see that in reality, He is preparing us for something yet to come. For the last six months I have been making phone calls, sending e-mails, spending hours in front of my computer, translating curriculum, making copies and much, much more. But thankfully, God has shown me that the goal of all of this preparation will soon come to fruition. In just two days orientation will begin for the seven students of Formacion.

They are now the ones beginning a preparation phase. God is preparing them to be full-time missionaries in a same or cross-cultural setting. Would you pray for them as we show them how to “wax on” and “wax off”?
